A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a blue disc bearing a gold torch inflamed red superimposed on two diagonally crossed gold swords with red grips, all intertwined with a black arced scroll at top inscribed ALWAYS and at bottom a black arced scroll inscribed SUPPORTING all in gold letters, and on either side a green palm frond.
Scarlet symbolizes courage, zeal and leadership; blue represents loyalty, perseverance and devotion. Black suggests strength, solidity and dependability while gold is for excellence, high ideals and achievement. The torch alludes to knowledge and leadership. The crossed swords imply military strength, support and preparedness. The palm fronds are emblematic of victory, honor and total military preparedness.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 7 August 1991.
